The Resident Evil 3 remake was revealed in December 2019 only to release four months later. The Resident Evil 2 remake was announced in June 2018 and came out in January 2019. Capcom isn’t always consistent with its Resident Evil announcements, but has had shorter announcement-to-release windows for its remakes. The game’s release window or reveal still hasn’t been nailed down, but the report states that Capcom wants to announce it sometime in early 2022. Video Games Chronicle also reported in May 2020 that Mikami had given the game his blessing when it first leaked the existence of the game. The game’s original director, Shinji Mikami, was also said to be interested in helping, but declined in order to help out with Tango Gameworks and its current project, Ghostwire: Tokyo. The report also contains some tidbits about the leaked Wesker design, which was not intended for this remake and was instead for a canceled title. The remake is reportedly going to address that by combining the two to make a “more fluid and polished companion piece.” However, it’s not clear how or if this will be DLC or not.
